Helping Those in Peril Experience the Sustaining Presence of God

When people suffer a life-shattering loss (i.e. relationship, health, job, retirement, marriage, child, position, reputation) it can lead to depression, anxiety, anger, guilt, an escape of responsibilities or an excessive pursuit of pleasure (i.e., reckless spending, substance abuse, foolish relationship rebounding, etc.). These four sessions will powerfully persuade and practically direct you or those you counsel away from these faithless responses through the perspectives of the Scripture. You or those you seek to help will find a hope that heals and wisdom that leads. Don't waste sorrow and loss, redeem it. Things will work out in the end for better, but only by following Truth. The following topics are covered in this 4 session course: Gaining comfort through an in-depth study of the sufferings of Job, Jesus and Joseph; showing the love of Christ and speaking the Truth of Christ to the person in crisis; teaching effective biblical meditation strategies to those in crisis; calling the person in crisis to discover God's purposed good in the bad by moving forward in faith. TIM BRYANT M.A.B.C. is the Executive Director of the Lowcountry Biblical Counseling Center (founded 2003). Before LCBCC, Tim served as a pastor for ten years. Tim’s counseling and speaking ministry have been used to help many couples and families struggling with intense interpersonal conflict, as well as many individuals seeking to overcome personal problems such as depression, anxiety, anger, bitterness, addiction, and guilt. He holds his Master’s in Biblical Counseling from the Master’s University in Santa Clarita. California, and is certified by the Association of Biblical Counselors. Tim and his wife, Erin have four children. His compassion for others and focus on Christ’s humility are often used by God to inspire change in those he helps.

He earned his PhD in Biblical Counseling from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from The Master’s University, and a BA in Pastoral Ministry from Baptist Bible College. He has worked as both a full-time biblical counselor and associate pastor before joining the TMU faculty—counseling in both non-profit and local church settings. Greg also served as a Captain in the United States Army from 2008-2012 after which he transitioned to counseling ministry. His research interests are the influencing role of habits to desires and also Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. His book, Helping Your Family through PTSD (Wipf and Stock), was released in August of 2017.

He is a certified counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC), ordained pastor, and a student member of the Evangelical Theological Society. When not teaching, Greg enjoys counseling for Lowcountry Biblical Counseling Center, serving in his local church as an elder, working on his Jeep, wrestling with his two boys, and eating good food with his wife.
